This is a tattoo I designed for the woman I loved. She asked me to draw her late mother as a witch. So I did. It wasn't particularly easy, actually: this is the 27th version of the drawing.
She probably wouldn't want me to post it on the internet, but hey, I didn't want to be her emotional piñata for a whole year and have her break my heart and my dreams. I guess we can't always get what we want. Anyway, I still think this is pretty good, and I hope you'll like it. You'll find other experiments here. Comments
Hope you don't mind me marking all over your work & hope it's intelligible! [link]
Portraits are so hard to mesh with other drawings and I think you did a terrific job overall! How did you come up with the broomstick/flower stem idea? Oh no, I don't mind at all, that's why I asked for critiques. Thank you very much for offering such a detailed reworking of the image. I think most of your suggestions are spot-on. I wish you had been around when I was drawing this over and over again! It's also a fascinating glimpse of your thought process, and what's cooler than that?
Anyway, she liked it enough to have it permanently drawn on her skin, which was the only important thing at the time. -- Click here to read the comic strip "My Life in Flux"! Heh, you'll have to forgive me, i miss both giving and receiving social cues when critiquing, often times. :\ I didn't mean to say that the image was bad in any way! Quite wonderful, actually! I personally forget the distinction between being able to draw & not, as it takes up so much of my mental processing time. Little details of this design make it especially something that I myself like, the aforementioned flower stem ride, the cape that's reminiscent of leaves, the little details on the hat & boots, & especially the great leggings! Little things too that communicate a lot of info .. the gesture of the hands says a lot & that sort of thing, something I try to aspire to & appreciate seeing in its rarity.
