This is the Maijin Kaļ, a ruthless general who was the third (and final) main villain in my D&D campaign. (This [link] was the first villain, and this [link] was the second). The Maijin Kaļ was actually a future version of one of the heroes (this guy here [link])
The technique I used here is very peculiar. I just "borrowed" a portrait of some old Russian general or czar or whatever (I don't remember who was on the original painting), and I painted the helmet over the original face. I then repainted over most of the costume, though I didn't change any major design element. As it is, this deviation is not entirely my creation, which is why I put it in the "photomanipulation" category. I still think it was an interesting experimentation, though. |
